Laser Hair Removal Treatments
-
How Many
Are Needed?
While the number of laser hair removal
treatments vary from individual to
individual, the general consensus is that most
people will require at least three treatments to
achieve the most effective results. Of course,
this will be dependent on the size of the area to be
treated.
The reason for the multiple laser hair removal
treatments is that while all treated hair is
temporarily disabled during the laser treatment, not all
of the hair follicles are removed or eliminated. As
a result, a sequence of laser treatments will
be necessary for results to become more
permanent.
In general, most people don't require more
than six laser hair removal treatments (dependent again on
the area being treated). The exception might be
those individuals with hormonal imbalances or
those who normally wax or pluck
regularly.
A key point to remember is that hair follicles
grow and regrow in a specific cycle. So, even
with the most effective laser hair removal treatments,
only those follicles that are in the active growth
stage at the time of treatment are disabled. For
permanent laser hair removal results,
the treatments should be repeated 3-6 times, at
7-13 week intervals.
The laser hair removal
treatment process will depend on the area
treated, as the growth cycle may vary from body area to
body area. Because the safety of laser hair removal
treatments has been
proven, a patient needn't worry about having
multiple sessions to rid themselves of larger areas of
unwanted hair growth. Remember - the goal for
effective and permanent hair removal is
to systematically disable all the hair follicles, in
turn, as they go into their active
phase.
